Miss Szold founded the organization twenty-two years ago. At present Hadassah is organized in 300 chapters with a total membership of 40,000, including 10,000 in junior Hadassah. Miss Szold has been hailed by Jewish leaders as the “outstanding Jewish woman of our times.”
The local drives will culminate on December 1, which has been set aside as Hadassah Sabbath. Hundreds of rabbis in all sections of the country will devote their sermons to the life and work of Miss Szold and the Hadassah.
On December 21, Miss Szold’s birthday, all 300 chapters will hold simultaneous birthday celebrations.
