A three-day Hadassah conference, called to survey emergency problems faced by the organization and to map expansion of Hadassah’s health and welfare program in Israel, opened here today.
Addressing the opening session, Mrs. Samuel W. Halprin, Hadassah president, announced the establishment of a committee on the planning and construction for a new medical center to be built in Jerusalem. Dr. J.J. Golub, director of the Hospital for Joint Diseases, has been named chairman of the committee. Joseph Neufeld, of New York, has been selected as the architect who will design the new medical center.
Mrs. Halprin called upon Hadassah’s 300,000 members to support the forthcoming bond issue which will be floated by the Israel Government in the United States. “By investing in Israel bonds, just as we invest in American bonds, we will in reality be investing in democracy,” she said.
