Objection to a ruling by the Administrative Committee of the Zionist Organization of America that members of the organization or of the Hadassah, who have not paid their dues since January, 1928, cannot vote or be candidates in the elections to the forthcoming Zionist convention, is voiced by the “Hadassah News Letter,” a weekly publication of the Hadassah.

The charge is made that by this ruling, 5,000 members of the Hadassah who paid in their dues before January and who could elect 104 delegates, are disfranchised.

The ruling applies to all members of the Zionist Organization of America. The Hadassah contends, however, that while the Zionist Organization of America made its fiscal year from January to December, the convention year, July to June, was chosen by the Hadassah as its fiscal year, with the knowledge and implied consent of the Z.O.A.

“The Administrative Committee of the Zionist Organization of America has stated quite frankly that the purpose of this ruling is to keep out of the Zionist convention votes that might be cast against them,” the “Hadassah News Letter” charges.

The “Jewish Daily Bulletin” learns that the Hadassah had attempted to secure the legal services of Samuel Untermyer in its fight against this ruling. Mr. Untermyer, however, has declined to take the case. At Zionist headquarters no comment was made on the charges, it being declared that the ruling is one which applies to all the members and the objections of the Hadassah may be submitted to the convention.
