Hadassah will send $200,000 to Israel to help facilitate absorption of newly-arriving Rumanian Jewish children within the framework of Youth Aliyah, it was announced this week-end by Mrs. A. P. Schoolman, Hadassah’s national chairman for Youth Aliyah. Mrs. Schoolman said that Hadassah will transmit the funds to Israel tomorrow.
Since the creation of Youth Aliyah in 1934, it has provided a haven and educational training for 90,000 children from 72 countries. Youth Aliyah will absorb 10,000 children and youth within the next two years from Asian, North African, Middle Eastern and European countries, according to Moshe Kol, its world head, who is currently in the United States. Hadassah is the official representative of Youth Aliyah in the United States.
