Hadassah groups and chapters sold $7,850,000 in Israel bonds throughout the United States during the past year, including $2,000,000 in New York, it was announced here today at the opening of Hadassah’s 1952 Israel Bond Drive.
The 800 Hadassah leaders attending the affair at the Hotel Commodore were addressed by Mayor Abba Hushi of Haifa and Mrs. Moses P. Epstein, chairman of the National Women’s Division for State of Israel Bonds, who returned from a visit to Israel. Both speakers emphasized that the acquisition by American Jews of Israel bonds will help the Jewish State to achieve economic independence and self-support.
