The Hadassah-WIZO organization of Canada will devote next month to an extensive campaign across the country to promote the goals and achievements of the organization and to recruit new members, it was decided last week at its semi-annual national executive meeting in Ottawa which was attended by Hadassah-WIZO leaders from one end of Canada to the other.
Clara Belinsky, national president, who made the announcement of the special month’s activities, said that Ruth Izakson, chairman of the World WIZO Executive, will be in Canada for the entire month as a special guest to help spark the activities. Among the cities she will visit are Toronto, Hamilton, St. John, St. Andrews-by-the-Sea, Ottawa, Montreal, Winnipeg, Calgary and Saskatoon.
Mrs. Belinsky also said that the executive committee meeting also decided that in honor of International Children’s Year 1979 a gift of the book, “The Learning Potential Assessment Device,” by Dr. Reuven Feuerstein, psychologist and director of the Canadian-WIZO Research Institute in Jerusalem, will be given to all universities across Canada that have psychology departments, and to many librarians.
Another decision was to develop a Jewish heritage program of rebuilding, rejuvenating and structuring Jewish consciousness in Canada through study groups, families and youth encounters and seminars in Canada and Israel.
