The Haifa harbor construction will be started within the next few months, declared Under-Secretary for the Colonies Ormsby-Gore, replying to a question raised by Lt. Com. Kenworthy.
The Secretary said he cannot state the time of completion, nor whether the laying of the oil pipe lines will be started. However, the desirability of providing harbor space for the pipe lines is being kept in mind. It is likely that the work will be executed under the direction of government departments and not turned over to contractors.
The Secretary admitted that post rates from Palestine to England have increased. However, letters to Palestine still enjoy the reduced imperial rate, he said.
