Haifa’s chief rabbi said Reform and Conservative rabbis in Israel should be able to conduct marriage and funeral ceremonies as long as they don’t conduct interfaith and same-sex marriages, according to the Israeli daily Ha’aretz. Sha’ar Yishuv Cohen also voiced support for a compromise earlier reached by the Ne’eman Committee on conversion that was rejected by Israel’s Chief Rabbinate.
