Haim Cohen, former Israeli Attorney General, today was sworn in as a member of Israel’s Supreme Court. His appointment was announced this morning by President Itzhak Ben-Zvi. He succeeds on the bench to the post left vacant six months ago by the death of Justice Shneor Salman Cheshin.
Justice Cohen is 49. Born in Germany, he is the scion of a long line of prominent rabbis. A graduate of Munich University, he came to Palestine after the ascent of Hitler to power, and continued his studies here at a theological seminary, but subsequently took a law degree.
