Hamas and Egyptian forces sealed the breached Gaza Strip border. Sunday’s work to close breaches in the Gaza-Egypt border followed a visit by a senior Hamas delegation to Cairo. Hamas, whose gunmen blew up the border wall Jan. 23 to allow hundreds of thousands of Palestinians to escape an Israeli blockade on Gaza, said Egypt had agreed to let it take part in the future running of the crossing. This was denied by the administration of Palestinian Authoriry President Mahmoud Abbas, Hamas’ rival. Egypt had no immediate comment.
