United Nations Secretary General Dag Hammarskjold arrived here today and, after meeting in Tel Aviv with top officials of the Israel Foreign Ministry, flew to Cairo, accompanied by Maj. Gen. E. L. M. Burns, UN truce chief.
It is understood that the Israeli officials pointed out to Mr. Hammarskjold that unless Egypt complies with Gen. Burns’ request for a cease-fire and extends the order to apply to the Arab suicide squads, there is grave danger that the situation will be even further worsened.
A Cairo radio broadcast today said that “war against Israel will not necessarily be continued with shooting on the borders, but with continued acts inside Israel territory.” It boasted of the “penetration” of the Arab marauders many miles into Israel territory.
Commenting on this broadcast, a spokesman of the Israel Foreign Ministry said that it clearly proves Egypt’s responsibility for the terrorist activities of the “fedayeen.” the Arab commandos. He described the broadcast as an open declaration of Egypt’s aggressive designs.
