A menacing and sudden anti-Jewish campaign has sprung up in the Lithuanian provinces. Thousands of leaflets have been distributed everywhere, describing the Jews as enemies of Lithuanian independence, and calling for a systematic boycott of all Jews.
While the Lithuanian government has made no attempt to interfere with the anti-Semitic movement, it is prohibiting Jewish meetings. The government refused Asriel Karle-bahc, German-Jewish journalist, and Lazki Bertholdi, editor of the Riga Jewish daily, Frimorgn, permission ## address meetings on Hitlerism. The authorities even went to the length of prohibiting performances by the famous Habimah artists, David Vardi and Eva Yoalit.
