The Jewish community in Havana and other Cuban cities has been in a state of terror since the overthrow of the Machado regime. Soldiers accompanied by mobs of Negroes have made frequent raids on the Havana Jewish quarters and have threatened to exterminate the “Poliakos,” a derisive title for Cuban Jews. Last Sunday a sudden raid on the Jewish quarter by soldiers and Negroes resulted in the killing of two Jews waiting in a store and the wounding of the Jewish proprietor.

A Czechoslovakian board of trade has been established here to facilitate and increase trade relations between Czechoslovakia and Cuba. Meyer Lisowitsh, president of the Adas Israel, was named president of the new board of trade.
