M. Peli, chairman of the group in Israel which is publishing a new 16-volume Encyclopedia Hebraica–a general encyclopedia in Hebrew with emphasis on Jewish subjects–arrived here from Tel Aviv to arrange for the sale of the volumes in this country. The first volume of the series has already appeared and the other 15 are expected to be published within the next five years.
Mr. Peli plans to purchase printing machinery in the U.S. for the publication of the remaining volumes of the Encyclopedia. Leading scholars in this country will also be asked to participate in the project. A total of 7,500 copies of the Encyclopedia have already been sold in Israel, Mr. Peli said. The price for the entire set is $274, he stated.
