Sen. Chapman Revercomb, chairman of the Senate Sub-Committee on Immigration, today said he thought all aliens in the United States should be required to register as they were in 1940, shortly before U.S. entry into the war.

“The time has come for another registration of every alien here,” he said. “We had one in 1940 when more than 5,000,000 registered. No one knows how many there are now, nor where they are nor what they’re doing. A new registration is needed for the benefit of our immigration officials as well as Congress.”
