The arraignment of Dr. Rudolf Kastner on charges of perjury was interrupted today when his attorney told the court that he had asked the Israel Supreme Court for an injunction postponing the hearing pending the arrival from abroad of two witnesses for the defense.
The presiding magistrate halted the hearing to await a decision by the Supreme Court. The request for an order nisi was filed with the high court after the magistrate turned down a defense request for a month’s postponement of the hearing pending the arrival of the two witnesses. Yesterday, the magistrate also rejected a request by the plaintiff for a delay so that he could bring a witness from Germany.
