The Ministry of Labor estimated today that it will cost 500,000 pounds ($160,600) to repair damage to Israel’s roads caused by more than a week of heavy rains and windstorms, and about twice that sum for improvements to enable major roads to withstand rain damage in the future.
The Ministry also said that the entire budget of the year for road repair, a mounting to 5,000,000 pounds ($1,666,000) will be needed to overhaul a number of key sections of Israel’s roads and bridges damaged by the pounding rainstorms.
