Voicing protests against the persecution of the Jewish religion and the Hebrew language in Soviet Russia and against the Arab outbreak in Palestine, the Histadruth, Hebrew organization, concluded its eleventh annual convention at the Hotel Pennsylvania, New York, on Tuesday night.
Dr. Joseph Tennenbaum was elected chairman of the Administrative Committee, Abraham Spicehandler was chosen treasurer, and M. H. Tausner, secretary.
Among the resolutions adopted was a decision to organize a council of all Hebrew-speaking organizations in New York City. It was decided to enlarge the Hebrew weekly, “Hadoar,” the publication of the society. Menachem Rybalow, editor of the “Hadoar,” reported that the weekly had gained a thousand new subscribers during the past year.
