Hebrew Plays in Palestine No Longer Require English Translation

The article in the Censorship Ordinance which requires the submission of an English translation of Hebrew plays will be deleted. the Attorney General, Mr. Norman Bentwich, told a delegation of the Protectors of the Hebrew Language”, who called upon him this week and asked him to remove this article from the Ordinance.

The Executive of the Keren Hatorah of Vienna has decided to arrange a tour for all interested for the purpose of visiting the important Yeshiboth of Eastern Europe. This suggestion was first made by Dr. Deutsch, lander. Director of the Keren Hatorah. at the Amsterdam Keren Hatorah Conference. Dr. Deutschlander has already inquired into the matter in Poland, Latvia and Lithuania, and it is now proposed that, the tour should comprise Vienna. Pressburg. Cracow. Lublin, Warsaw. Vilna, Radun, Telchi and Slobodka. At Cracow the tour will include participation at the foundation-stone laying of the Teachers’ Academy of the Beth Jacob. and at Lublin the new Great Yeshibah will be inspected.

The notice of discontinuance of the two-hundred-thousand-dollar libel suit of Herman Bernstein against Henry Ford and the Dearbora Publishing Company was completed yesterday by lawyers representing both sides, and today Federal Judge Heary W. Goddard will be asked to sign it. The filing of the notice will end this action, which was begun on Aug. 18, 1923.

Twenty Jewish charitable organizations received from $250 to $5,000 in the will of the late Sophie Scheftel, widow of Adolph S. Scheftel. according to the accounting filed yesterday. The estate is valued at $1,975,947.

CORRECTION

The sum of $2,500 reported to have been donated by the Judea Insurance Company and the amount of $35,000 made available for loans to the Palestine earthquake victims, were made available not by the Judea Insurance Company of New York, but by the Judea Industrial Corporation, in behalf of the Judea Insurance Company, Ltd., of Jerusalem.
