Rabbi Edward T. Sandrow of Temple Beth-El in Cedarhurst, N.Y. will be inducted a Torch of Learning Fellow by American Friends of Hebrew University on Dec. 5. The Torch Award is bestowed for “distinguished service to Jewish life and education in America and Israel.” The dinner will also mark the establishment of the Edward T. Sandrow Chair of Eastern Europe Contemporary Jewry at the university. The award will be presented by Dr. Henry Sonneborn III, president of American Friends. A special guest of honor will be David Z. Rivlin, Consul General of Israel. Rabbi Sandrow is a member of the Board of Directors of the Jewish Telegraphic Agency.
