A decision to convene a congress for Jewish research work was adopted at the session of the Curatorium of the Institute of Jewish Studies of the Hebrew University which was held here this week.
A special commission was appointed to make the necessary preparations for the convening of the congress.
The Council adopted a number of resolutions aiming to extend the work of the Institute of Jewish Studies. It decided to inaugurate academic courses in the history of Hebrew Literature, in Halacha, Cabala and the study of Palestine, topography, geology, history and geography. A course is also to be given in the history of Jewish religious philosophy.
The question of creating a chair for the study of the Bible and the disputed proposal for the establishment of a chair for the study of the Yiddish language and literature also came up. With regard to these questions, committees were appointed to investigate and report.
