Prof. Selig Brodetsky, president of the Hebrew University here, in an address marking the opening of the University’s 23rd academic year today, expressed surprise that the “great nations have failed to voice their displeasure” at the fact that the University and the Hadassah Hospital have been prevented from “carrying out their important intellectual and humanitarian duties.”
In an appeal for the building of traditions at the University, Dr. Brodetsky said: “We need not imitate anybody. The Jews never benefitted from sheer imitation.” He also revealed that the Knesset would soon consider the question of converting the University into the official university of Israel.
