A 50,000,000-pound ($16,666,666) regular budget for the next academic year, and a 20,000,000-pound ($6,666,666) development budget were approved by the Board of Governors of the Hebrew University as the university celebrated its 40th anniversary here. The regular budget was 10,000,000 pounds ($3,333,333) above this year’s expenditures.
The Board also recommended an increase in the number of students seeking science instruction, and urged in a resolution that the Government continue its efforts to recover and use the university’s Mount Scopus campus, which is new an Israeli enclave surrounded completely by territory under the Jurisdiction of Jordan.
James Ross of Youngstown, Ohio, a new member of the board, announced a contribution of $1,000,000 to the university’s student loan fund.
