The Hebrew University, in Jerusalem, will conduct a world-wide study of the Jewish people, according to an announcement made here today by Philip M. Klutznick, president of the American Friends of the Hebrew University.

The study, at the university’s newly-established Institute of Contemporary Jewry, will be directed by Dr. Moshe Davis, provost and associate professor of American Jewish history at the Jewish Theological Seminary of America, who has been given a two-year leave of absence for this purpose.

The new institute, Mr. Klutznick said, is “a concrete expression of the Hebrew University’s aim not only to serve the people of Israel but also to be the university of the Jewish people.”
