Helene Mayer has accepted the cabled invitation sent her in Oakland, California, to try out for the German Olympic team, it was announced tonight by Dr. Theodor Lewald, chairman of the German Olympics Committee.
Dr. Lewald said he received a cabled acceptance from the German-Jewish fencing star. Dr. Lewald followed up a registered mail invitation he said he had sent with a cablegram yesterday. Miss Mayer had denied having received the letter.
