Tribute was paid today to the late Dr. Herman Liebermann, former Polish Minister of Justice, and the first Jew to sit in a Polish cabinet, at ceremonies marking the opening of the first Polish court in England, which will exercise jurisdiction over Polish citizens.
Karol Popil, acting Minister of Justice, lauding Dr. Liebermann, who secured the establishment of the courts, stated: “Today I am acting, so to speak, as the late Dr. Liebermann’s deputy. Had not his great heart stopped beating it would have devolved upon him to inaugurate these ceremonies.” The principle of a new legal order based on justice and freedom, as announced by Dr. Liebermann, will be the foundations of a new Poland, Popil stated.
