Israel, it is understood, hopes to receive a new loan from the Development Loan Fund, for which Congress has recently appropriated an additional $150, 000, 000 for the current fiscal year. So far, this year, Israel has received from the Loan Fund a total of $5,000,000 compared with $15, 000, 000 in the last fiscal year. Negotiations for further funds from the loan fund are reportedly progressing satisfactorily. Israeli officials here are also confident that the U.S. grant aid program will include Israel this year, as it has in the past.
