The branch office of the Hias, the Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society of America, was closed here. The directors of the Warsaw branch left for Berlin.
When asked, Mr. I. L. Asofsky of the Hias office of New York, stated:
“The Hias office, which subsidizes the Emigdirect, having offices in various European countries, still functions in Warsaw. The only department which has been removed to Berlin is the Central Remittance Office, which cares for the remittances of funds.”
MRS. REBECCA KOHUT SAILS FOR EUROPE
Mrs. Rebecca Kohut, author of “My Portion” and honorary national vice-president of the Council of Jewish Women, sailed on the Leviathan on Saturday for Europe.
Mrs. Kohut will visit England, France, Italy, Sicily and Austria, Poland and Roumania, where she will make a study on behalf of the United Jewish Campaign of conditions affecting women and children. She will also attend the sessions of the Congress of Liberal Jewish Congregations.
Dr. Julius Grodinsky was appointed secretary of the Jewish Publication Society of America. He is succeeding Mr. I. George Dobsevage.
