The Hebrew Immigrant Aid Society has been obliged to expand its “pier service” because of the great number of ships bringing refugees to New York from Europe, it was stated today by Abraham Herman, president of HIAS. The service meets all incoming steamships carrying Jewish passengers and aids them in entering the country.
