More than 1,900 Jewish refugees in France, Belgium, the Netherlands and other countries of refuge were aided by the HIAS-ICA Emigration Association to emigrate to various overseas lands in the first three months of the year, a board of director’s meeting was told today by managing directors Edouard Oungre and Dr. James Bernstein. (The J.D.C. contributed more than half of the HIAS-ICA transportation fund.)
The board was informed that HIAS-ICA had helped a total of 34,000 refugees to emigrate from Central Europe since the advent of Hitlerism in Germany.
