British authorities have granted permission for Morris Kraicer to enter the British zone of Germany to represent HIAS there and at Bremen, departure point for immigrants from the American zone to the United States, Ilya Dijour, HIAS director for Germany and Austria, announced here today.
Kraicer, who is a former secretary of the Canadian branch of Hias, will handle “non-quota” and “preferential” immigrants, who are the only immigrants from the British zone permitted to enter the U.S. under President Truman’s directive facilitating immigration of refugees and displaced people. Kraicer is now in London and will leave immediately to assume his new post.
