Representatives of Jewish financial and industrial institutions in Palestine today conferred with Edmond B. Boyd, a high official of the Colonial Office, who arrived here from London to study various local problems in connection with post-war plans. Mr. Boyd was given an official reception by Mayor Rokach of Tel Aviv after which he paid a visit to the headquarters of the Jewish Federation of Labor.
The Arab news agency here today carries a report from Baghdad quoting Nuri Pasha, the Iraquian Premier, as stating that he visualizes the proposed federation of Arab States as becoming an Arab Commonwealth occupying an important position in the post-war world. “It is essential that all Arab states should have one mind with regard to their foreign policy,” he is reported as declaring in the course of an interview.
The Iraquian Premier emphasized that each nation joining the Arab Federation should be prepared to approve the establishment of a federal directing body, which will probably be known as The Arab Council, to decide on all matters affecting member nations of the Federation, including their customs duty, foreign policy, economic system and the treatment of national minorities. Each member nation would be represented on the federal body through delegates chosen by an “internal committee of each country, Nuri Pasha said.
