Strong measures against student rioters in the universities were pledged today by Dr. Constantin Angelscu, Minister of Education, to a delegation of Jewish students who came to demand protection from attacks similar to that staged by anti-Semitic students yesterday in the University of Bucharest medical school. Five Jewish students were badly beaten by student members of the anti-Semitic Cuzist party who yesterday attacked them following a physics lecture.
Minister of the Interior Ion Inculet yesterday promised to take every means within his power to curb extremists who are responsible for the alarming increase in anti-Jewish agitation in Rumania.
Dr. Inculet made the promise to a delegation of leaders of the Union of Rumanian Jews and the Jewish Party which called on him to protest against the dangerous situation which is developing for the Jews and to demand immediate precautionary measures.
The delegation was under the leadership of Chief Rabbi Jakob Niemirower of Bucharest, Dr. William Filderman, president of the Union, Deputy Dr. Joseph Fischer and Advocate Weismann.
