Secondary school teachers throughout the country staged a one-day warning strike today in protest against what they called “foot-dragging” by the authorities in dealing with their demands for improved conditions, including higher wages.
The teachers held meetings in various cities to voice their impatience with the slow progress in settling the issue. Some of the teachers called for an all-out struggle to win their demands. They had rejected an appeal by the Government to call off the strike following an extraordinary Cabinet session on Tuesday, when they were asked not to disrupt the country’s educational system.
