Joseph Asscher, the well-known Dutch Jewish philantropist and curator of the French Keren Hayesod, has been appointed a Knight of the Order van den Nederlandschen Leeuw, the highest Dutch order. The order was conferred on him on the occasion of the twenty-fifth anniversary of the Dutch Chamber of Commerce in France.

J. Loudon, the Dutch Ambassador in France, in presenting the decoration to Mr. Asscher, said that the Queen had not thought it right to wait until her birthday to reward him for the many services which he has performed for Holland.
