Prof. Hillel Arzieli, a teacher of Hebrew, Talmud, Kabbalah and Jewish history in Rome for the past 15 years, was buried on the Mount of Olives in Jerusalem today. He died here Monday at the age of 74. His body was flown to Israel for burial.
Bom llyusha Ivasoff in Tiflis in the Russian province of Georgia, he came to Palestine in 1923, making a long march through Turkey with his parents, grandparents and three brothers. He had been teaching in Rome since 1967 under the auspices of the Jewish Agency and was highly regarded by the local Jewish community for his total dedication to the cause of the Jewish people.
