The National Council of the Histadrut, Israel’s Federation of Labor which is now meeting here, was thrown into an uproar today when Esther Vilenska, a Communist member of the Council, asserted that the Mapai–the moderate Socialist party which dominates the present government–has “surrendered to the bourgecis control system and allows unlimited profits for exploiters.”
Mapai delegates prevented Miss Vilenska from continuing here herangue by shouting at her–“Traitors! Answer whether reports of Mikunis’ activities in Rumania were true. Socialists are jailed in the ‘Popular’ democracies. Where are the Jewish writers in Russia?” The chairman restored order with great difficulty. (Shmuel Mikunis, Communist Party leader in Israel, was charged recently with inciting Rumanian Government authorities against Zionist leaders in that country, while he was on a visit to Bucharest.)
