The Board of Education and the Board of Higher Education of New York City were awarded citations of honor by the Histadruth Ivrith of America at the organization’s Hanukkah dinner at the Waldorf-Astoria here tonight for being the “first public school system to offer modern Hebrew as an accredited subject.” Speakers at the gathering included Israel Foreign Minister Moshe Sharett, Israel’s U.N. delegate Aubrey Eban and Dr. Israel Goldstein, who presided.
