The Histadruth Ivrith of America marked its 50th anniversary here last night at a banquet attended by leading educators and Jewish communal leaders.
Ezra Z. Shapiro, national vice-president of the United Israel Appeal, who was guest speaker at the event, said that “the strengthening of the ties to the Hebrew culture and the spiritual values which flow from an understanding and use of its language is one of the most urgent tasks confronting Jews in America today.” Dr. Judah Pilch, director of the Institute for Curriculum Planning of the American Association for Jewish Education, was chairman of the banquet.
