One thousand leaders in the civic, business, professional and political world will join tonight at the Hotel Commodore in a tribute to Aldermanic President Bernard S. Deutsch and his leadership in the movement for the protection of rights of Jews, the fight against Hitlerism and all other forms of discrimination in this country and abroad.
Three hundred and fifty leaders in the life of the city and the nation have united under the chairmanship of Harry M. Warner in arranging tonight’s dinner in recognition of Mr. Deutsch’s services for six years as president of the American Jewish Congress from which office he retired in March owing to the pressure of his official duties.
The dinner will be addressed by Mayor LaGuardia whose words will be brought to the guests over long distance wires from Washington where he is compelled to be this evening; Dr. Stephen S. Wise, Mr. Warner, Henry W. Taft, George Z. Medalie, Rebekah Kohut and Louis Nizer.
