Mrs. Eleanor Roosevelt was today named “The Woman the Year” at e banquet tendered by the National Council of Jewish Women. The award ##ted Mrs. Roosevelt’s “outstanding leadership” in the U.N. Commission on Human Rights ## her humanity in championing the rights of minorities, both in this country and ##road. She was also honored for setting “an inspiring example of the selfless devo-##on of women to the betterment of mankind.”
