All hospital doctors in Israel, except for skeleton staffs, began a 48-hour strike today in protest against the Government’s treatment of young doctors. The younger physicians have demanded pay increases, extra pay for night shifts, and free time to increase their medical education. In another action, 600 specialist trainees in the hospitals submitted their resignations to take effect in 30 days.
