Ferenz Vajta, Hungarian alleged Nazi and war criminal, was charged today with involvement in the slaughter of thousands of Jews in Hungary, before a House Un-American Activities Sub-Committee investigating fascism.
The charge was made at the second day’s closed meeting of the sub-committee and issued by the American Embassy in Madrid on the basis of a certificate of identification issued by the chief of police of Rome to Vajta, who does not possess a passport, Making the charge was Paul Nadanyi, editor of the New York Hungarian newspaper “Amerikai Magyar Nepszava.” Nadanyi, according to Rep. John McDowell, of Pennsylvania, chairman of the sub-committee, said that he exposed Vajta when the latter attempted to sell him a series of articles.
