The House Immigration Committee at its meeting yesterday decided to withdraw its bill calling for the repeal of the national origins plan of the Immigration Act of 1924 and to support instead the Senate bill calling for the postponement of the provision until July, 1928.
It was pointed out that in case the Senate and the House disagree and new joint action is taken before Congress adjourns on March 4, the national origins provision of the Immigration Act would automatically become a law. The House Immigration Committee expects to have the House vote on the proposal notwithstanding the crowded agenda of the last days of the Sixty-ninth Congress.
