Human Rights Day, commemorating the principles on human rights adopted by the United Nations on Dec. 10, 1948, was observed today in the United States following the issuance of a proclamation by President Truman last Saturday.
Frank Goldman, president of the B’nai B’rith, in a statement today, said: “It would be a great stride forward if there were a human rights committee, authorized to operate immediately in concert with all U. N. members, in the investigation of reported violations of human rights under the U. N. Charter. We would like to see the U.N. Commission on Human Rights itself authorized to conduct world-wide, objective surveys on the observance and protection of human rights. “
