Hundreds of Israeli policemen are believed to be obtaining rabbinical ordination to boost their salaries. Citing Justice Ministry sources, Ha’aretz reported in a weekend expose that as many as 600 policemen have taken courses for the Orthodox clergy so they could receive $430 monthly stipends.
