The new Hungarian Government has invited Moses A. Leavitt, executive vice-chairman of the Joint Distribution Committee, to visit Jewish communities in Hungary, he revealed here today.
A delegation representing the government will meet Mr. Leavitt at the Hungarian border and escort him to Budapest, in order to avoid transit difficulties, since Mr. Leavitt has not yet received a Soviet entrance permit. He is leaving for Hungary on Thursday.
Following a visit to the large Adriatico camp in Milan, Leavitt said that Living conditions here are worse than in Germany, but the morale of the DP’s seems to be higher. The JDC head conferred with representatives of the Jewish Refugee Committee, UNRRA and the Italian Government.
