Hungarian Government Will Not Allow Jews to Change Their Names

The Magyarization of their non-Magyar names by Hungarian citizens has been prohibited by an order of the Ministry of the Interior.

The Ministry decreed that families bearing non-Magyar names will be permitted to change their names only in such cases where the applicant has performed a patriotic service to the country.

The press comments that this order has been issued mainly against Hungarian Jews.
