A plea for the elimination of Henry Ford from the Presidential race was made yesterday by the 5th annual convention of the Federation of Hungarian Jews in America, at the Hias Building, 425 Lafayette Street.
The appeal charges Ford with being menace to the peace and prosperity of the inhabitants of the land. and states that his only virtue is that he is the richest man in the country.
Another resolution was adopted requesting the replacing of Count Szchenyi, Consul General of Hungary to the United States, because of his alleged refusal to intercede in behalf of Jews in Hungary who, the resolution asserts, are being inflicted with “unspeakable persecution”.
In his report as President Dr. Buchier declared that conditions in Hungary have not improved much in the last few years as they affect the Jews. They are still being discriminated against, beated and imprisoned because of their religion, he charged.
Dr. Buchler read messages from President Harding, Governor Smith, Senator Copeland, U.S. Supreme Court Justice Louis Brandeis, Otto H. Kahn and Murray Hulbert.
