The Hungarian Senate was declared by liberal newspapers today ready to adopt “humanizing” amendments to the drastic anti-Jewish bill now under consideration by a joint committee. The amendments would eliminate hardships against war veterans, invalids and war prisoners.
The joint committee began discussions of the bill today following a special commission’s examination last night of numerous proposed amendments. The amendments had been previously examined at a conference in the Premier’s office, attended by Premier Paul Teleki, Justice Minister Tasnadi-Nagy; Keeper of the Crown Baron Perenyi and former Finance Minister Wekerle.
Meanwhile, delegates from 40 towns attended the first national conference of the Palestine Foundation Fund. Dr. Eduard Izak presided.
